In a heartwarming display of unity, Christ Church, the oldest Protestant community in the Middle East, located just a stone’s throw from the iconic Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City, hosted a remarkable ‘Night of Unity’ on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

This inspiring event drew more than 125 attendees, all eager to come together in worship. Amidst the backdrop of ongoing conflicts on multiple fronts, the invitation to this special gathering resonated deeply: ‘There’s no better time than now, come worship with us in Hebrew and Arabic.’ The evening began with a meaningful communion service held within the historic walls of Christ Church, followed by an uplifting time of worship in both languages in the vibrant courtyard. Unlike previous reconciliation events, where Jewish and Arab believers often remained within their familiar circles, this gathering broke down those barriers.

Attendees from both communities mingled freely, showcasing the strong relationships that have been nurtured over time. This event signifies a monumental shift from similar gatherings held 15 years ago, illustrating the considerable progress both communities have made toward reconciliation, as they continue to build robust bridges of understanding and friendship over the past decade.
